SHY PROPRIETOR
September 9, 2006 -- ELAINE Kaufman isn't ready for her close-up. The legendary saloonkeeper's Second Avenue watering hole was a hangout of real-life FBI agent John O'Neill, an integral part of ABC's embattled flick "The Path to 9/11." It turns out the producers asked Kaufman, who once appeared as herself in "Diary of a Mad Housewife," to be in a scene in which O'Neill comes in for dinner. But she respectfully declined - sparing her any association with the stink being raised over the movie's depiction of Bill Clinton.
