3 with NYC Ties are Named Rhodes Scholars

NEW YORK (AP)
-- Three students with ties to New York City are part of an elite group
of 32 people around the country who have been selected to be Rhodes
Scholars.

The high achievers will enter Oxford University in England in October.

David L. V. Bauer is a student at City College of New York who plans
to continue genetics research he began at Oxford last year while
studying abroad. The Manhattan native says he hopes to help make
genetic testing fast and cheap so that everyone has access to the
technology.

Bronx resident Rakim H. D. Brooks has already been appointed a
scholar at several public policy institutes. He wants to study
comparative social policy.

Columbia University student R. Jisung Park has studied sustainable
development and plans to pursue a Master's degree in nature, society,
and environmental policy.
