The fans believed and they cheered. They stood faithfully in the rain and prayed for the Mets to defeat the Cardinals and move on to the World Series, but that wasn't enough as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Mets 3-1. St. Louis will now face the Detroit Tigers in the World Series.
