JEANINE AND AL'S 'PAY-&-STAY PACT'

SHOCKER CLAIM OF 15G-A-MO. DEAL
October 2, 2006 -- ALBANY - It's the money, honey.

Jeanine Pirro stays with her philandering husband, Al Pirro, because he has agreed to give her a $15,000-a-month lifestyle, a source close to the couple has told The Post.

Jeanine Pirro, the Republican candidate for state attorney general, has made it clear to many that she stayed in the marriage after Al's tax-evasion conviction - and his admission that he had fathered an out-of-wedlock child - with the understanding that he would underwrite her luxurious lifestyle, the source said.

"One time, she's on the phone with Al and she's saying, 'Uh huh, uh huh, well, Al, it's 15 grand a month, that is the number,' " recalled the source, who said he often visited the Pirros' luxurious Harrison home. "Jeanine then continues, 'I don't want to hear that you're short this month. Fifteen grand is the number.'

"And I heard Mike [Santangelo] say the same thing, that Jeanine told him that Al has got to come up with $15,000 a month for household expenses whether from his lobbying or real-estate deals or whatever, that that was the deal after Al got out of prison."

Michael Santangelo, a Westchester lawyer, unsuccessfully defended Al Pirro at his federal tax-evasion trial in 2000.

Santangelo's wife, Lisa, is the woman whom Jeanine Pirro suspected of having an affair with Al.

Michael Santangelo has denied that his wife was involved with Al Pirro. His wife has been unavailable for comment.
