The Port Authority is moving ahead with a plan to sell the air rights above the terminal so a 1.3 million square foot glass and steel office tower can be built over its north wing.
The project – first proposed back in 1999, but abandoned after September 11th – will include renovations and improvements to the bus terminal.
The Port Authority is expected to approve entering into negotiations with the two developers originally selected to build the tower.
If a deal to sell the air rights above the terminal cannot be reached in six months, other developers will be allowed to bid.
